TCT Solar Unites with Green Business Leaders in
“The Faces of Climate Change”
CEO Steve Gorman urges a role for Solar Energy in a Future Low-Carbon Market
(Tampa, FL- May 15, 2008) -- TCT Solar, one of the oldest U.S. manufacturers of solar thermal systems, today announced the company is one of a few select Florida Green business leaders chosen by the Environmental Defense Fund and Florida Wildlife Federation to participate in “The Faces of Climate Change”, a PR awareness campaign focused on alerting businesses, legislators and private citizens about the urgency of reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions to create a robust Clean Energy economy and job growth.
"For the past 20 years, Steve Gorman has been fighting climate change, making us more energy secure and creating jobs and profits all at the same time," said Gerry Karnas, Florida Climate Project Director for the Environmental Defense Fund. "When Congress puts a cap on greenhouse gas emissions, companies like Steve's will put Florida in a prime position to create the next generation of jobs and profits."
“We’re proud to have been selected as one of the ‘Faces of Climate Change’,” said President and CEO of TCT Solar, Steve Gorman. “Because solar energy’s key environmental benefit is reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions, Florida’s solar industry is working diligently to ensure it will be held as a prescriptive measure in Florida’s developing cap-and-trade program.”
From commercial installations like Sandals Resorts and the U.S. Embassy building in Abuja, Nigeria, to private residences, over 40,000 ProgressivTube™ solar collectors have been installed worldwide, resulting in an avoidance of 51,400 tons of CO2 emissions. The World Resources Institute has described solar water heating as “perhaps the simplest and most efficient form of green power available today”.
